Vladimir Putin, the Russian President, alleges that the West is foolishly trying to preserve global dominance by spreading fears of a potential Moscow-led attack on NATO. He claims that Western nations are concocting falsehoods to mislead their own populations.

During a meeting with heads of international news agencies on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on Wednesday (June 5) local time, Putin was questioned about 'NATO's preparedness to counter Russian aggression.'In response, Putin rebuffed the notion, stating, 'Consider this: Some envision Russia harboring intentions to attack NATO. Is such a notion not utterly absurd? Who could conceive such nonsense?'

The Russian president insinuated that such misconceptions are deliberately spread to mislead Western populations. He mentioned that Western nations express desires to arm themselves and advocate for increased weapon shipments to Ukraine.

Putin remarked that the West propagates these ideas to uphold its "superior position." He highlighted that for the citizens of Germany, France, and other European regions, these scare tactics hold no truth. In Ukraine, Russia's actions are purely defensive. He cautioned against fabricating narratives about Russia and forming opinions based on them.

Throughout the meeting, which extended over three hours, Putin reiterated the primary motives behind Russia's involvement in Ukraine. He referenced events such as the 2014 US-backed coup, the Kiev government's actions in the Donbass region, and the flawed Minsk peace process. Western leaders, he claimed, have acknowledged the deceitfulness of these narratives.

Putin argued that the United States didn't funnel vast sums of money, weapons, and equipment into Ukraine out of genuine concern for its people. Rather, he contended, it was to further America's "greatness and global leadership."

He asserted that the interests of Ukraine are of little concern to the United States. While Moscow has no intentions of aggressing into Europe, Putin warned that Russia would consider retaliating against the US and its allies for supplying Kiev with long-range missiles in sensitive areas.
