Palestinians displaced by the Israeli occupation of Gaza are enduring inhumane conditions. Children sometimes go whole days without food, and thousands of people are forced to share a single toilet. The international NGO Oxfam issued this warning on Tuesday.

Israel has recently intensified its attacks on Rafah, Gaza's southernmost city. Refugees from other parts of Gaza who had sought safety in Rafah are now fleeing again. According to UNRWA, over 1 million people have fled Rafah.

Citing UN figures, Oxfam reported that an average of only eight aid trucks per day have entered Rafah since the ground operation began on May 6.

More than two-thirds of Gazans are crammed into less than one-fifth of the besieged area, according to Oxfam.

The organization also reported that despite Israel's assurances of full assistance to the fleeing population, large parts of Gaza remain deprived of humanitarian aid, with famine looming.

Oxfam cited a survey conducted last May by various aid agencies, which revealed that 85 percent of children in Gaza went without food for at least one day every three days.
